Post  sivakumar on Sat Jul 17, 2010 7:20 pm

IBM’s “Application System/400”.

Object-Based System.

Virtual storage, Multi-programming, Spooling and Batch processing.

Multi-user and Multi-tasking.

Is most often used by a company to run their daily business transactions

Can be used for special applications within a large organization

Not only does it control all the activity on the IBM i (AS/400), but it also incorporates many features that would be separate software components on other systems.

It uses Operating Systems like S/36, OS/400, i5/OS and the latest being IBM i, which has functionalities like System Management, Resources Management, Memory Management, and File Management.
