Chain would fetch a record based on search criteria and put the result in the input field.

The search condition could be key value or rrn, based on the value fed the search is made and the records are fetched.

One physical file can have more than one logical files. Primary file is used in rpg program cycle to automatically read records in a cycle

CHAIN wil set the file pointer based on the KEY/RRN given and fetch the records. It is used for randomly retrieving the records...CHAIN = SETLL + READE

SETLL is used to set the file pointer at the lower limit of the KEY/RRN specified under Factor1.It wont fetch records.

SETGT is used to set the file pointer at the Upper limit of the KEY/RRN specified under Factor1.It wont fetch records.
