Considering performance which one is better. Read using rec format name or file name? Why?

Read a PF with filename or record format - no difference,performance depends on the file size ie number of records...
Reading a Prog desc file,u should use only file name in factor2...

But READ a LF which has more than record format...
Say for example, i had a LF with 10 record format each recfmt contains 100 records...

A)Now if i read LF with filename as factor 2,it reads 10*100 ie 1000 records
B)If i read LF with particular record format ,then it reads records from that recfmt alone ie 100 records
FROM (A) and (B), B is faster , reading using recfmt is faster
reading 1000 rec by (A) is slower than to read 100 rec(B)...
