Improve performance of JDBC connectivity

Users are complaining that their PC-based application, which
connects to the System i using JDBC, has gotten progressively slower when initially
connecting to the System i. The number of users for this application has been
increasing recently. The PC and Network support departments report no problems.
How can the time required for the users' JDBC jobs to start be decreased?

Increase the "Initial number of jobs" and the "Additional number of jobs" for the QZDASOINIT prestart job.

QZDASOINIT is the jobname for the database SQL server jobs on the System i. These jobs are used to serve SQL to JDBC and ODBC client applications. The jobs run the default QUSRWRK subsystem. iSeries Nav jobs also use this job name when running a query through the SQL window in Operations Navigator.
