How to improve the performance of HTTP server

Post  maran on Sun Jun 30, 2013 9:17 pm

By default, jobs that IBM i NetServer and use the HTTP functions run in the * BASE pool, pool number two in the display Work with System Status (WRKSYSSTS). Your performance problem may be due to the fact that HTTP jobs run in multiple threads and need a "level of activity" in the upper * BASE pool. If the activity level is insufficient, some jobs may not be able to run.

Run WRKSYSSTS then increase to 100 MAX ACTIVE setting the * BASE pool to see if performance improves.

If the improvement is low, increase MAX ACTIVE 50 more.

When you press F11 to view the Job Transition State screen and you press F10 every 10 to 15 seconds to refresh the screen (do not use F5), the "Wait -> Inel" column "Active -> Inel" should show a very low value or zero. If this is not the case, you should increase MAX ACTIVE so that more threads are active in the pool, for a better response time.
