How can i retrieve no of  members to a file........( I mean what is the command to retrieve)....

RTVMBRD returns always returns 0 for PF. Actually it is used to find how many members the LF does have.

We can use the API QDBRTVFD in CL to get the member count.

Alternate way is do use outfile concept IN cl.

DSPFD FILE(&LIB/&FILE) TYPE(*MBR) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE)
FILEATR(*PF) OUTFILE(QTEMP/MBRCNT) OUTMBR(*FIRST *REPLACE)    

then RCVF and get the count from the field MBNOMB.
