READ using Data Structure I/O
There is saying OLD is GOLD. Yes we use old technique that is necessary as well to specify data structure in result of retrieval opcodes ( READ, READP, CHAIN, READE , REDPE) if you retrieve record from program described DS. Specifying DS in result field is optional if we read the record from externally described file. But specifying DS in result field will cause I/O is faster to move a large number of bytes from the record buffer to the DS than it is to move each of the fields individually.
Also we can use DS (MULTIPLE OCCURRENCE DS / ARRAY OF DS) to store a multiple records of the same file to compare the records.
